Bruce on Games vs Evony
It seems the war between Evony LLC and Bruce Everiss (Bruce on Games) continues to wage on. After the makers of Evony Free Forever (UMGE) chose to chase Everiss in the Australian courts for defamation – it seems Bruce is now hell bent on exposing Evony and the behind the scenes workings.
A former gaming industry marketer, it seems Everiss has a strong following and has recently started a Facebook Group directly relating to Evony. (Refer: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=295181985789)
While initially criticizing Evony on his Bruce on Games blog and on forums and other online outposts, Everiss has really stepped up his focus on the popular new MMORTS game.
If Evony LLC (backed by UMGE) wanted to hush Everiss or scare others off discussing their free browser game in a negative light – it seems they have failed.
Not only has it spurred Everiss to go all out against Evony, now other bloggers are getting wind of the showdown and are looking at Evony more closely in terms of a review.
On the other hand, the continued exposure online ensures Evony Free Forever keeps in the public eye. The strong Adsense campaign has slowed somewhat, with revealing adverts now less frequent. But as Evony approaches 10 million accounts, the continued publicity (both bad and good) will ensure gamers and game review sites / blogs – will keep popping into the game for a peek.
Everiss seems to also be using the event to get himself back into the spotlight and make hay while the sunshines. Initially worried the court case may bankrupt him, Everiss has turned the whole thing into a carnival. The mature Englishman has put his hands up for donations from the internet public and it looks like traffic to his blog will certainly be up on general conditions.
So it seems like a case of the old retired Jedi master. Ben Kenobi once said “If you strike me down, I will be more powerful than you could ever imagine”
And for Everiss this seems to ring true also. With the giant UMGE taking a huge swipe at him, and the old school Bruce on Games ramping up his negative coverage of the free browser RPG game and also doing his utmost to increase his web brand, celebrity and grab some donations along the way.
Compelling viewing for all!
