Evony 2
Talk and speculation around the Evony sequel or Evony 2 have not stopped, but the makers of the free MMO game have been fairly quiet regarding the next step or futures for the Evony Game overall.
While development on the original evony continues, including larger maps, more in-game items, better strategy options and an ever-growing database of accounts and thriving alliances – the next step, away from the original game platform could be futher away than we think.
The problem for Evony and the makers – Evony LLC and UMGE (wowmine / eric lam backed), is that given the strong success of the original game in the MMORPG market, if they move away to a totally new sequel ‘Evony Age 2′ as some have suggested – then it could cripple or make a massive dent in the original official evony game and it’s large gamer base.
With some suggesting that there are near 20 million login accounts having been created for the original evony and now around 1000 free english servers for the game – starting to tell the world about a sequel would certainly see some of that gamer-base and goodwill move toward the new release.
In response to recent releases by Innogames such as the Grepolis Game by the makers of (The West and Tribes) – Evony have simply cranked up their web marketing campaign. But will this be enough to keep it atop the MMO BBG ranks?
While they are attracting new users and signups at a high rate, there is no guarantee that firstly these users will be long time evony players. Some will arrive, signup, login and create a town and grow it minimally, check out the battle scenes and military related options and may never return.
Then for the percentage of online games players that do stay and continue to keep an active Evony Account, will they eventually purchase evony game coins? Because if they dont, they arent generating any profit for the games makers and backers.
Apart from Grepolis by Innongames out of Germany, other rivals of Evony include the Kingory Game, Adventure Quest Worlds and DragonFable.
