@DancingSpiderman I liked the latest movie. I thought it was cast perfectly. Good story. Good character developments. The problem with sequals and prequals is keeping continuity intact. For instance, in Metamorphosis (TOS) Cochran is from Alpha Centauri. In 'First Contact' he's from Montana or Wyoming. Then in 'A Wolf in the Fold' Scotty is from Aberdeen. In the latest movie he's found at the outpost station where Spock was exiled and there's no mention as to how Scotty got there from...???

@DancingSpiderman. I have a small correction for you; it was Transporter Chief Kyle not Scotty. Why not a food dispenser in a Transporter room? Transporter Chiefs get hungry too. LOL. Something else to consider, Kyle was not even an Ensign when he started on the show but in Star Trek II he was the same rank as Checkov this means that Kyle was promoted faster then everyone else on the show. lol, Kyle is the real hero of the show.

I just recall the instance in Tomorrow Is Yesterday when Scotty asked the Air Force security guard whether he'd like a bowl of chicken soup; the guard went to the food replicator (?) and dipped the tip of his right middle finger into the soup and tasted it. The food dispenser/replicator was IN THE TRANSPORTER ROOM, of all places hahaha.

It's called "The Way to Eden" from Trek's final 1969 season. Trek's take on the hippie generation I guess. When they reach the planet they think is Eden, their feet get burned by acid in the foilage (not the LSD kind) and the vegetation's poisonous. In the original story, Bones' daughter was gonna be one of the hippies, but they changed it to Chekov's ex. Not sure what the message is unless it's follow your dreams but choose your leaders wisely.

Spock actually smiles when he realizes Jim is alive. The only time Spock smiled in Star Trek when he was in his normal state of mind( ie not affected by alien spores or space sickness).
